THE MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH RETREAT at Camp Grier November 6-8, 2015 Theme: "BE OK: Doubt. Promise. Trust." Cost: $70 - $15 (from youth budget) = $55 Register on-line: www.fpcmorganton.org/ministries/youth Keynote Speaker: Katherine Blankenship About Katherine Blankenship: Katherine Blankenship is originally from Asheville, NC, a place she credits the formation of her love of service, the mountains, and her love of God. She graduated from Appalachian State University in 2010 and received her Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Practical Theology at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. She now serves as the Mission Immersion Director for Raleigh Youth Mission, and through her ministry with youth she works to name creative gifts and profound truths in their lives, most often through music, art, prayer and laughter. What is a Presbytery Youth Retreat? -A time for middle school youth (grades 6-8) from across our Presbytery to gather for the experience of Christian fellowship. -An opportunity to play, study, worship, sing and serve in a beautiful setting with their peers. -An opportunity for youth to see the Church of Jesus Christ beyond the local congregation and take that experience home. -A chance for the First Presbyterian youth group to grow closer through a shared experience. Register on-line: www.fpcmorganton.org/ministries/youth Official PWNC Middle School Retreat Packing List 2015 What to Pack: ·A good attitude! ·Bible (Come on, you are going on a church retreat!) ·FPC Youth Group T-shirt if you have one (S.W.A.G. REPRESENT!) ·Close-toed shoes (preferably tennis shoes)—FOR SAFETY while at recreation ·Clothes for two to three days (Not twenty outfits please, fashion campers! You know who you are!) [Please dress for the weather…we will be outside…the temperature will vary from very cold to possibly hot!] ·Personal hygiene items—yes, you must brush your teeth and wear deodorant! ·Sheets and a blanket for a twin bed and/or a sleeping bag ·Pillow ·Towel(s) [Everyone forgets this…don’t be everyone!] ·Sandals that can get wet for shower… [Trust me!] ·Flashlight (for tag or “Night at the Museum”?) ·A sweatshirt for when it gets cold (We will be outside!) ·A jacket for when it gets cold (We will be outside!) ·Rain gear—something for protection from precipitation (H2O falling from the sky!) ·PJ’s (something appropriate to sleep in...) ·Re-usable water bottle ·Money ($) about $5-7 for fast-food lunch on the way home Sunday ·A good attitude! (Yes, we know this is on the list twice!) ·A smile ·Your singing voice… Optional Items: ·Musical instrument (if you play one…you may bring it…but you are responsible for it!) ·Camera (but you are responsible for it!) ·Prescription medication (Give this to your adult leader!) ·$$ for an offering for Sunday worship ·$$ for Camp Grier Store (shirts, water bottles, etc.) ·Paper and a writing utensil (to collect contact info from your new friends!) What NOT to Pack: ·CELL PHONE (you can use an adult’s phone for an emergency), PSP, CD player, iPod, MP3 player, PDA, Game boy, laptop, Giga Pet or any other electronic device ·Illegal drugs, alcohol, guns, weapons, or your smokes… ·Loads of $$$ (Unless you are going to donate it to FPC Youth Mission Fund!) ·Clothing with inappropriate messages or images… ·Clothing that is revealing (We don’t wanna see that!) ·Anything your grandparents and Jesus wouldn’t want you to have Register on-line: www.fpcmorganton.org/ministries/youth
