2016 Minister's Retreat - Albemarle, NC

Mark your calendars for October 3-5 and make plans to gather with pastors from throughout North Carolina at Joshua Free Will Baptist Youth Camp in Albemarle, NC for the annual North Carolina Association of Free Will Baptists Ministers' Retreat. Set aside the demands of ministry and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of Camp Joshua. You'll find rest and renewal with pastors, preachers, and ministry leaders who have come from the coast to the mountains gather together for mutual support and encouragement. For those sports-minded men, golf outings will be arranged for both Monday and Tuesday. Bring your clubs! The festivities begin on Monday evening with dinner at 6:00 p.m. Our first service kicks off at 7:00 p.m. with featured speakers Rev. Jim H Turnbough, Pastor of Immanuel Free Will Baptist Church in Durham, NC and Rev. Sonny Thomas, Pastor of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Glendale Springs, NC. You'll rise to breakfast on Tuesday morning then proceed to a special worship with Rev. Kevin Woolard, Pastor of Grifton Free Will Baptist Church in Grifton, NC. He will be speaking on a topic of critical concern today - church security. Every pastor in attendance will receive a free Church Security DVD featuring Free Will Baptist layman and security specialist Sam Hodges as he presented a one-hour security workshop at the 2015 FWB Leadership Conference. Also on Tuesday morning, Dr. Eddie Moody, Pastor of Tippett's Chapel in Clayton, NC, will address ministering to veterans and military personnel. Over 2.5 million total have served in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and Operation New Dawn (OND) combined, and many have paid a high price with 6,852 deaths and 1,572 suffering the loss of at least one limb. More than 253,330 suffer today from traumatic brain injuries, and we will discover what you (and your church) can do to support them and their family during and after a combat deployment. Dr. Moody's book on the subject will also be available for purchase. After Dinner of Tuesday evening, we’ll gather again for worship with Rev. Billy Poe Jones, Pastor of Harriett Memorial FWB Church in Forest City, NC, and Rev. Cliff Donoho, Pastor of Haven FWB Church in Raleigh, NC. After Breakfast on Wednesday morning, there will be one final time of worship with Rev. Luke Johnson, Pastor of Highland Drive Free Will Baptist Church in Lincolnton, NC. We will gather around the altar for a time of prayer before departing for home. The cost of the retreat is $75.00 which includes five meals and accommodations at Camp Joshua. If you are staying at the Camp, remember to bring single sheets and towels. If you prefer other accommodations, there are several chain hotels available in Albemarle.
