Youth Wildlife Conservation Experience - Reno, NV

The fifth annual Youth Wildlife Conservation Experience will take place Saturday, January 21st from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Mt. Rose Ballrooms of the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. This FREE event for families is designed to excite and inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and conservationists, and the Maison T Ortiz Youth Outdoor Skills Camp will be running one of the stations. Through a combined effort of many volunteers and several organizations from around the U.S., this event is designed to excite and inspire kids, from elementary through high school, to learn more about what the outdoors have to offer, all led by the Wild Sheep Foundation. The entire day has been designed for hands-on learning experiences. Hands-on stations for families include: target and trap archery, casting challenges, pellet gun ranges, duck calling, mini hunter safety with a Laser Shot range, tracking using Repli-Scat and Repli-Skulls, fly tying, touring exhibit hall, making survival bracelets, the Nevada Rifle Team, Team USA athletes, Nevada Department of Wildlife's Operation Game Thief trailer, conservation stations, free youth raffles, and more. Even live raptors will be on display for educational purposes. In addition, for youth ages 12-17, the TRACKS program lets them visit selected vendors in the Sheep Show exhibit hall to learn more about the outdoor and conservation, with a large raffle prizes being given away for those who complete the program. For each station a youth attends, a free raffle ticket is earned. Many prizes to help encourage youth to get off the couch and into the outdoors will be given away throughout the day, including: sleeping bags, tents, metal detectors, binoculars, BB guns, archery sets, and more. A free pass into the Sheep Show exhibit hall will be given to each adult who brings a child to the youth YWCE on Saturday. Youth get into both the Youth Wildlife Conservation Experience and the exhibit hall for free. This truly is a great way to spend the day with the family. Families can stay an hour or the entire day.
