The Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park will hold a teen improv summer camp from July 10-14, 2017. This camp is for students from 7th through 12th grades. (this camp is limited to 20 students) Students will learn theater skills through theater games and improvisation. These are important skills to become better actors. The benefits of learning improv: 1. become a better actor 2. confidence building 3. become better at public speaking 4. helps bring you out of your shell 5. you'll become a better listener 6. helps you to become a better team player 7. helps you to think quicker on your feet 8. increased creativity 9. increased ability to adapt to change 10. IT'S FUN *There will be a free student showcase on Friday, July 16, at 1 p.m. Camp is held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Camp Cost: $100.00 EVERYONE IS ACCEPTED, REGARDLESS OF EXPERIENCE! Students will receive a drink and snack each. They may bring food from home and there will also be items at the theater for sale. FRIDAY IS FREE PIZZA DAY! The Breakthrough Theatre is located at 419A W. Fairbanks Avenue in Winter Park. Your head counselor will be owner and artistic director of the Breakthrough Theatre, Wade Hair. Before opening the theater, Wade was a teacher with Orange County Public Schools for 13 years. He taught at Wheatley Elementary, Robinswood Middle, Howard Middle, Ocoee High, and Wekiva High. While at Howard Middle School, he also served as the coordinator of the City of Orlando's Afterschool All-Stars Program. He graduated from UCF with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, with an added certification in Drama. He left teaching to open the Breakthrough Theatre, which is about to finish its seventh successful year. Wade is the proud father of two wonderful children and loves traveling (especially to NYC), reading, music, and theater.
