With demand for more Summer Camps with evening hours, we have added a 5pm - 8pm the "From Scratch" Advanced Baking Camp, a popular summer camp over the years taught by our owners, Mr. Mike and Mrs. Jacki, with guest appearances by local pastry chefs."FROM SCRATCH" ADVANCED BAKING CAMP July 24 - July28 5 pm -8 pm Ages 8 and older Children are grouped for age appropriate instruction: 8-10 yrs., 11-14 yrs., and 15 yrs and older. Looking for a creative, constructive, and challengingactivity for your child? Look no further than our fun-filled "from scratch" ADVANCEDbaking camp where each day is designed as a specific baked food lab. Your future pastry chef will practice baking savory and sweet recipes reinforcing many math and science skills used in baking. Children will make, bake, and take home a variety of “from scratch” goodies. Monday: Yeast Dough Pastries Tuesday: Working with Phyllo Dough and Puff Pastry Dough Wednesday: International Savory and Sweet Specialty Cakes Thursday: Iced Layered Cakes Friday: International Gourmet Cookies Young chefs will learn essential skills to prepare recipes with varying themes. Culinary instructors will train your child in kitchen safety, age appropriate knife skills and a multitude of other skills that will follow them into adulthood. Campers practice a variety of "hands-on" cooking and/or baking techniques with our chef/culinary instructors who provide daily recipes that are child-friendly, offering wholesome food. A Camp Recipe Booklet, a Camp Certificate of Participation, and a Chef Hat are presented at "chef graduation" on the last day of camp. $175 Cost of camp includes: 15 hours of Hands-on cooking activities in a small group with 2 adult culinary instructors. Food and beverages from the daily recipes Use of all cooking equipment and supplies Use of class apron Closed toe shoes should be worn and long hair pulled back.
