Kid's Camp at The Cloth Pocket! - Austin, TX

Date and Time: Mon - Fri June 4 - 8, 9a - 12:30p Come sew with us!! In this super fun 5-day camp we’ll begin with hand sewing basics and move on to machine sewing skills to give kids a well-rounded introduction to sewing! Campers will choose to make a machine-sewn Patchwork Drawstring Backpack or Tote Bag (w/ pocket), machine-sewn Rice Warming pillow, and a machine-sewn Design-Your-Own Stuffed friend. Campers will complete at least 3 projects over the week. A choice of a fourth bonus machine sewing project will be available to kids who finish the first 3 projects ahead of time: Depending on your child’s level of sewing they can choose to make an adorable skirt, PJ pants, City-Gym shorts, or Frankie Dress. Throughout the week, campers can take a break and work on hand-embroidery or pom-pom garlands by the cozy felt fire. All materials are included in the camp fee, and we have a fun variety of fabrics, so that each child can customize their projects to suit their own personal style. This Camp will be taught by BOTH Amy Jane Gennrich (of www.craft-joy.com) and Tessa Gonzales (aka: The Fabricker) It is designed to accommodate up to 6-8 students. It's a great for absolute beginners! No experience required! Prerequisite: Children MUST be between the ages of 8 & 12 years old by the first day of camp! 6-8 students per camp Five (5) 3.5-hour classes over 1 week $280 per student (all materials provided; optional $5 machine rental available) Bring with you to class: Your sewing machine, if you have one (or rent one of ours). A big snack (sewing makes kids hungry) & water bottle! Your Waiver Form (will be emailed) printed & filled out by mom, dad or legal guardian. All other materials are provided in class! Sewing machines can be rented for $5 for the course. It is recommended that you bring a machine if you own one so that you may learn to sew on the machine that you'll be using the most.
