STEM YES! 2018 Summer Program | Session 1: Science/Healthcare DirectEmployer Institute’s (DEI), Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Youth Enhancement Summer Program (STEM YES!) is a comprehensive summer program made up of 2, 2-week sessions for Central Indiana students in grades 9th - 12th who are interested in exploring STEM & Business careers in a work-based environment. During each session, students develop competencies in teamwork, business planning, presentation skills, social etiquette, soft skills and career and college preparation. All this, while exploring and learning about the various fields that STEM has to offer through, job shadows, research, product development, information technology, and many more. What to Expect: Collaboration with peers to acquire greater knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Site visits to local fortune 100 companies to explore workplace culture, professionalism as well as experiencing careers real time Learning opportunities include job shadows, volunteering and serving day, and a professionalism workshop Session 1: Science/Healthcare Explore Science hands-on in a cadaver lab observing the anatomy and mechanics. Students will participate in an informational panel discussion of medical professionals Gain experience conducting research Work alongside professionals for advising in order to gain knowledge of the various fields within the Science/Healthcare fields Demo workshops led by professionals, field trips and job shadowing to employers' sites such as: Eli Lilly and Company Salesforce Cummins Duke Realty Dow AgroSciences Charles Schwab And More...
