Five Days of Flags - summer upcycle arts camp at Ragfinery

Dates: July 8-12, Monday to FridayTime: 10am – noon dailyAges: 6+ Description: This year we’ve revamped this popular week-long camp to include those who want a shorter day for a younger crowd. We will play with ways to make plain fabric fabulous. Using dye, prints, embroidery, applique and sun prints we will turn reclaimed fabric into colorful flags. Each participant will finish with a unique banner made from their flags and loads of inspiration and resources to customize projects at home. Be ready to get messy with your creativity! Requirements: No experience necessary, but participants must be able to safely handle scissors, needles and carving tools. All materials provided.  About the Instructor: Libby Chenault is a local fiber artist, mother and popular workshop teacher around town. During the school week, Libby works with kids of all abilities as a paraeducator at Carl Cozier Elementary School. On Saturdays you may find her at the Bellingham Farmer’s Market with her business moth and squirrel selling upcycled hats and stuffed animals.  For over a decade she taught gardening and craft classes through the Bellingham Parks and Rec department for folks with disabilities and kids. She specializes in working with recycled materials and adapting projects to students interests and abilities.
