ABOUT Time: 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM (each day) Shark Camp is a weekend only day camp that provides a fun, enriching and educational experience for kids.  Shark Camp is broken into 2 days: Boat Day and Beach Day. Boat Day - Campers get their t-shirts, decorate name tags and play an icebreaker to get to know each other. We learn about how shark and whale scientists study marine life from a boat (photo identification, fluke prints, behavior, and questions such as why would it be difficult to study sharks? What can we learn from sharks?) Campers will also learn about shark hunting behavior. Then, we learn some boat safety and head out for an afternoon of whale watching in Monterey Bay. This year we also have the rare chance to see juvenile great white sharks. Beach Day - Shark Campers explore Natural Bridges State Beach. We tide pool with California State Park rangers, pet docile swell sharks at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center, and take a behind the scenes tour of Long Marine Lab. Campers will also learn about what different types of sharks eat and the different teeth they need for the task. Then, Shark Campers will craft their own replica shark tooth necklaces.   Note: Cancellation fee of $50 prior to 4 weeks before camp. For cancellations within 4 weeks to camp date or less, no refund will be provided.
