Take Flight with STEM Camp - Hosted by the HSU Educational Foundation This camp is about hands-on learning, innovation, coding and adventure using drones. Come make friends, play creative games and jump in at the forefront of an emerging field. This one-of-a-kind summer camp is for anybody and everybody. No experience needed; great memories guaranteed! Campers will learn: (bring personal cell phone to use app) FAA rules and regulations – Students will learn a very basic overview of what the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is, as well as rules to fly a drone in the United States Program autonomous flying Real Life Application Scenario – Search and Rescue There are only 30 minutes of battery left and you and your partner must deliver items to hurricane survivors! This fast-paced activity involves maps, drones and teamwork. Campers will learn drone technology in this real-life example Introduction into Drone Team Challenge: Students explore UAVs through navigation of five educational DTC Missions: Knowledge – focusing on aerospace / FAA foundational concepts and safety regulations Flight simulation practice Piloting quadrotor drones with line of sight and FPV Creation / Innovation – Applying software programming skills for autonomous flight and applying emerging technology tools Mentorship – gaining invaluable leadership experience The first day will include a Drone Team Challenge mentors and coaches training Registration is open to students entering 6th through 9th grade that are interested in S.T.E.M.
