A comprehensive mixed martial arts program that developls knowledge, skills, attributes, and abilities for Survival Competence. The Japan Karate Federation, Tucson AZ has been providing traditional, JKA style Shotokan karate and mixed martial arts instruction since 2010. The Japan Karate Federation (JKF) was established in 1959 by Shihan (Master) Dan Ivan.One of the schools which became a cornerstone of the JKF was the San Diego Branch which was located in Carlsbad, CA. The Carlsbad Dojo was established by Mr. Norm Belsterling with encouragement and approval of Shihans Ivan and Demura.The JKF Carlsbad Dojo, under Belsterling Sensei’s tutelage, continued the tradition, producing many AAU Western Regional and AAU National Karate Champions, both in Team and Individual competition, in Kata (forms) as well as Kumite (fighting). It also developed four fighters who fought professionally in Mixed Martial Arts competiton in King of the Cage. The JKF Tucson Dojo was established by Scott Langlais, with the approval of Sensei Belsterling. The JKF Tucson Dojo's classes are currently held on the University of Arizona campus. Sensei Langlais' students regular participate in charity events and fundraisers.
